A not-so-warm welcome for Bush: "A recent poll in the popular (left-of-center) Daily Mirror — traditional supporters of Blair — declared that half the country feels Bush is a threat to world peace rather than a help. "

BBC NEWS: "Did we have to go to war for this cause? And you only go to war in a desperate last case scenario. It hadn't reached that point. Iraq was being disarmed day by day. Missiles were being destroyed.
I think historians are going to come to judge this as the greatest mistake by a British prime minister in 50 years. "

BBC NEWS: "This wasn't a victory and there was nothing triumphalistic about it. They were lucky to get out alive. The reporter said it makes your teeth rattle. Well that's what war does; it makes your teeth rattle.
I think the attacks on Al-Jazeera - both verbally and in the end with missiles - were absolutely indefensible. It's entirely right that the Arab world should have its own sources of information. "

BBC NEWS: "No, when I saw the war and I saw the beginning and I saw how the first thing that the United States protected - was what? The Ministry of Oil - the oil fields. Did they protect the people of Iraq? Did they protect the museums which have one of the greatest legacies of our own history? Did they make everything possible so that there wouldn't be a humanitarian catastrophe? Did they do everything in their power so that there was going to be no lawlessness? No - the only thing they were concerned about was the oil ministry and the oil fields. "

Washington, DC USA

PAST WORK EXPERIENCE

I ran for Congress and lost.

I bought an oil company, but couldn't find any oil in Texas; the
company went bankrupt shortly after I sold all my stock.

I bought the Texas Rangers baseball team, in a sweetheart deal and built a stadium using taxpayer money.

With my father's help and name, I was elected Governor of Texas.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS GOVERNOR

I changed pollution laws in favor of the power and oil companies and made TX the most polluted state in the US. And replaced Houston over L.A. as the most smog-ridden city in America.

Cut taxes and bankrupted TX government to the tune of billions of
dollars in borrowed money.

I set the record for most executions by a Governor in US history.

I became US President after losing the popular vote by over 500,000 votes with the help of major Enron money and my father's appointments to the Supreme Court.

Bush Lies to the American People!: "There never was any weapons of mass destruction found in Iraq although Bush said he knew exactly where they were. Thousands of lives were lost because of him. In my opinion he is responsible for loss of thousands of lives and HE HIMSELF is a weapon of mass destruction. I am an American and I love my country dearly. I do not support a President who lies to us and I do not support cold blooded murder and he has done both"

BBC NEWS | Have Your Say | Is Iraq damaging President Bush's popularity?: "His overall popularity does not particularly matter. The hard core of his supporters are the big corporations that gain from his tax cuts, US supremacists, and right-wing Christians that believe that Bill Clinton was the anti-Christ. To them he can do nothing wrong, and they will go out and vote for him whatever happens. Sadly to say, a large part of 'middle America' also believes the media claims that he is 'a popular wartime President'. If ever a US President was hyped, Dubya is the one.

BBC NEWS | Have Your Say | Is Iraq damaging President Bush's popularity?: "Iraq is not damaging Bush's popularity but Bush's popularity is damaging Iraq irretrievably. His inhuman manoeuvres has cost tens of thousands of lives. Yet the people of this country support him without even thinking about the lies that he told us. We are coming to accept aggression, violence, exploitation and imperialism as part of our daily views. Come on we need to think sanely and STOP him
Manna, US "

BBC NEWS | Have Your Say | Is Iraq damaging President Bush's popularity?: "George W Bush and Tony Bair opened Pandora's Box in the Middle East, without the support of the United Nations and against the wishes of the international community. Now they are finding out that the consequences of their insane and criminal actions are too costly in lives and dollars, and they want to spread the burden among the international community. But why should the U.N. and the world's population be made to pay for their arrogance and abuse of power? Let the 'coalition forces' reap what they sowed.

Did war compromise al-Qaida hunt?: "BUT, AS “Operation Enduring Freedom” kept al-Qaida on the run, the White House was already planning for war against Iraq. Sources say that in the spring of 2002, key weapons in the war against terror — such as the commandos, the drones and the high-tech surveillance planes — were rotated out of Afghanistan. Now experts tell NBC there was a clear tradeoff as the United States let up on al-Qaida to pursue regime change in Iraq."

Bush takes blame for nuclear claim: "WASHINGTON, July 30 — President Bush on Wednesday accepted personal responsibility for a controversial portion of last winter’s State of the Union address in which he asserted that Saddam Hussein was seeking nuclear material in Africa."

New Arab press freedoms after Iraq?: "As Iraq enters a postwar phase, the U.S. Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA) has lauded the countrys newfound press freedom on the one hand, but issued an order entitled Prohibited Media Activity on the other.

Order No. 14 was enacted to stop incitement of attacks on coalition forces and Iraqis working with them. But the edict, which, according to the CPAs Web page, allows onsite inspections of Iraqi media organizations, without notice, and the confiscation of their property and closure of their premises without compensation, has some Iraqis fearing that the list of prohibitions could be loosely interpreted and used to crush their long-awaited right to free speech. "

New Arab press freedoms after Iraq?: "In the lead-up to the war in Iraq, the Bush administration asserted that regime change would create a new atmosphere of liberation and democracy for the entire Middle East.
However, Arab satellite stations have recently come under attack from the United States, which says that their coverage from Iraq was biased and incited violence against U.S. troops."

Google Groups: Bekijk thread "I was in the country of WAR CRIMINAL!": "The Americans dwell with the positive because it makes them feel good, but
this has nothing to do with reality. American heroism is only made up by the
media and politics. It is good for the ratings, and what is good for ratings
is good for advertisers, and what is good for advertisers is good the
tv-station: it means more profit, and that is their only reason of
existence. "

Body found in U.K. fuels Iraq row
"THE FAMILY of David Kelly, a soft-spoken microbiologist who had worked as a U.N. weapons inspector, had reported him missing after he went out for a walk on Thursday with no coat despite a heavy rainstorm."
"The ministry said Friday that Kelly had been told he had violated civil service rules by having unauthorized contact with a journalist, but “that was the end of it.” It said Kelly had at no point been threatened with suspension or dismissal after admitting speaking to the BBC reporter."

Blair defends U.S.-led war in Iraq

of course in UK the government needs to explain but in usa??

On Iraq, dj vu all over again?: "
If Bush team exaggerated, it had ample precedent
In October 1990, a teenager calling herself 'Nayirah' told lawmakers that she had seen Iraqi soldiers removing Kuwaiti babies from incubators, leaving them 'to die on the cold floor.' After the 1991 Gulf War, the accusations were debunked, and 'Nayirah' turned out to be the daughter of Kuwait's ambassador to the United States."

A Nation desperate for War: "Or were the documents, as some investigators suspect, a scam perpetrated by con men who sought to make money off the material by exploiting the widely known American interest in finding damaging evidence about the Iraqi regime? "

BBC NEWS | Have Your Say | US forces in Iraq: Is there a crisis of morale?: "My heart goes out to the military and their families. The military should not have been sent there in the first place. What Bush's true motives were, we can only guess. I hope that Americans wake up and throw his regime out of office next year!!!
David Hamlin, US "

BBC NEWS | Have Your Say | US forces in Iraq: Is there a crisis of morale?: "I just watched an interview with an unnamed soldier of the 3rd Division. When the reporter asked what he would say to Donald Rumsfeld, if he were there, he replied, 'I would ask him for his resignation'. Another soldier said that he 'doesn't believe anything the army tells him now.' This is disturbing. These soldiers and their buddies clearly believe that the chain of command has broken faith with them. This would indicate that their officers also are angry. I am an American soldier myself, and this really worries me, more than reports of violence against our forces.
Michael G, US "

BBC NEWS | Have Your Say | US forces in Iraq: Is there a crisis of morale?: "I strongly opposed the fact that U.S troops were sent to Iraq in the first place. U.S hegemony has now gone too far. What do you call a country invading another without consent and imposing a government which will be controlled by them? Well I learnt that such a thing is called imperialism..
Marcia Ashong, USA/Ghana "

BBC NEWS | Have Your Say | US forces in Iraq: Is there a crisis of morale?: "I don't think they have any choice but to stay. US forces are still in Japan and Western Europe, what makes people think that this will be different if the US wants to maintain and enhance its sphere of influence? Speaking of which, why is the UK still in Germany? Are we making sure they don't attack the Italians?

MSNBC -- The Big Picture

Take a look back at the reasons to go to war again and the promises made

MSNBC Interactive

The United States is the largest consumer of oil in the world, and with Saudi Arabia, the largest producer, it has been able to ensure that oil prices remained relatively stable over the past 30 years. This co-dependency is strained by political and cultural differences. A U.S. occupation of Iraq, however, would leave Washington with enormous influence over the future of Iraq’s huge oil reserves. This may break Saudi Arabia’s hold on the world’s oil pricing.

Bush's Faustian Deal With the Taliban --May 22, 2001: "Enslave your girls and women, harbor anti-U.S. terrorists, destroy every vestige of civilization in your homeland, and the Bush administration will embrace you. All that matters is that you line up as an ally in the drug war, the only international cause that this nation still takes seriously. "

Independent Media Center | Bloomington-Normal Illinois: "Bush would not even negotiate with the Taliban to hand over Bin Laden. The Taliban made a simple offer: if Bush produced evidence, like any rational person would have done, they would hand over Bin Laden to a neutral third country. Instead of getting Bin Laden extradited and holding him on trial in an international tribunal, Bush refused, and instead invaded a country, killed many innocent civilians, and captured virtually none of the major Al Qaeda leaders, Mullah Mohammed Omar, or Bin Laden. Bin Laden might have been caught without fighting a war at all. "

'Why we attacked Iraq' : Melbourne Indymedia: " What did Afghanistan do to us on September 11th?
A: Well, on September 11th, nineteen men, fifteen of them Saudi Arabians,
hijacked four airplanes and flew three of them into buildings, killing over
3,000 Americans. "

Questioning September 11th - Part 3: "Within 10 minutes of the second WTC tower being hit, CNN had announced that Osama bin Laden was responsible for this horrendous act. Don't you find it rather interesting that CNN somehow knew by 9:13 that Osama bin Laden was behind the September 11 attacks? So, were the United States' intelligence services, which cost taxpayers at least $35 billion per year, warned in advance of the September 11 attacks?"

Questioning September 11th - Part 3: "Is the whole Anthrax episode about killing 5 birds with one stone? One, does it shut the news media up? Two, does it shut the politicians up? Three, does it keep the masses in the United States scared? Four, does it makes a huge profit for some pharmaceutical companies? Five, a really brilliant big distraction to keep you from not seeing what is really happening in both Afghanistan and to our own civil liberties? By the way, no one has been caught and all of the Anthrax strains are known to have been made by the United States Military."

Questioning September 11th - Part 3: "9. Have big oil and gas corporate multinationals been planning for years to build the many pipelines that would be needed to transport the last huge proven reserves of natural gas and oil from the Caspian Sea region to the warm water ports? Isn't this why we supported the Mujahadeen to the tune of billions of dollars over ten years to stop the Soviets from tapping this last huge proven reserve all for themselves? In his 1997 book, The Grand Chessboard, by former Jimmy Carter National Security Advisor and member of the Trilateral Commission, Zbigniew Brzezinski wrote that this current war with Afghanistan has been in the planning stages for at least four years and indicated the need for a Pearl Harbor-like attack. So, is the best, shortest and cheapest way for all of these pipelines to reach the warm water ports and to refineries through Afghanistan? "

Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered Russian intelligence to warn the United States
government 'in the strongest possible terms' of imminent attacks on airports and government buildings prior to September 11. Why didn't the United States intelligence agencies take the Russian intelligence agency the KGB seriously? By the way, why were Russians selling their U.S. Dollars weeks before September 11?

8. The combined passenger lists for the 4 flights on September 11 totals 264 dead. Yet when you count the passenger names on the official published lists, the 4 flights are missing 6, 8, 9 and 12 passengers. "
